Responsibilities
Internalize and execute grade level lesson plans for all contents with fidelity and in alignment with Resurgence Hall Instructional Frameworks.
Co-deliver high-quality whole group instruction for all scholars, and consistently provide acceleration and support interventions for designated scholars—including those supported by Individual Education Plans (IEPs), 504 plans, Early Intervention Program (EIP), Remedial Education Program (REP), Talented and Gifted (TAG), and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services—in collaboration with co-teachers and service providers.
Create reteach (whole and small group) plans as needed based on exit tickets, unit assessments, projects, and additional scholar data.
Create a classroom culture of joy and urgency with high expectations for all scholars through the implementation of school-wide culture systems including fidelity to the behavior management cycle, incentives, logical consequences, and logging into DeansList.
Build deep relationships with scholars, families, and staff to foster a culture of joy and community.
Continuously develop content and instructional expertise by deeply engaging in weekly professional development and 1-1 coaching with instructional coaches.
Maintain up-to-date, accurate, and detailed records in all school-wide platforms such as PowerSchool, Illuminate, DeansList, and, as needed, GO-IEP in partnership with assigned service providers.
Administer formative and summative assessments, including but not limited to NWEA MAP, STEP, quizzes, and interim assessments.
Administer all state and district-mandated assessments, including WIDA Screener, WIDA ACCESS, Georgia Milestones, Literacy Universal Screener, Dyslexia Screener, as applicable.
Maintain up-to-date, accurate, and detailed documentation on scholar progress through scholar portfolios, progress reports, assessment files, and report cards.
Collaborate with case managers and program leads to implement classroom accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs, 504 plans, and other individual programs.
Provide coverage support when required to ensure scholar learning and safety continue uninterrupted.
Communicate daily with all families regarding scholar academic and social/emotional progress through school-based applications (apps), phone, and email.
Lead and support schoolwide, grade level, and content team initiatives such as Parent University Nights, Spread the Love Week, Black History Month, 100th Day of School, and Awards Ceremony.
Support school-wide initiatives such as weekend recruitment events, evening parent workshops, and other events with advanced notice outside of the regular work week and hours.
Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the Director of Culture & Instruction
Qualifications/Certification- All candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree is a plus. Strong candidates hold a current Georgia certification, certification from another state, and/or demonstrate eligibility and willingness to pursue certification in the field of special education.
Prior Experience- At least 2 years of full-time teaching experience in special education at the elementary or middle school level and a demonstrated ability to raise achievement levels of traditionally underserved students highly preferred. Sense of humility, urgency, and interest in growing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
